Hell Let Loose: Vietnam ships with six maps covering the terrain that defined the war: mountain gorges, dense triple-canopy jungle, river deltas and abandoned villages. The maps are not 1:1 recreations — the developers designed them for gameplay first, but drew heavily from the real battlefields.

What Coverage Revealed

• Mountain gorges — vertical combat with ridge lines; US helicopters have an edge in fire support, NVA tunnels make the peaks unpredictable.
• Dense jungle — sightlines measured in meters; firefights are ambush-heavy and grenades are essential.
• River deltas — water crossings with PBR boats; river control determines flanking routes.
• Abandoned villages — mixed buildings for close-quarter fights and tunnel entrances.
• Open rice paddies — deadly to cross; smoke and helicopters are the only safe ways through.

Map Design Philosophy

GamingBolt confirmed the maps were built "for gameplay first" rather than as museum reproductions. That means real locations inspired the terrain, but capture points, sightlines and flank routes are tuned for 50v50 balance. The jungle is denser than any WWII HLL map — expect a very different pace of play than the hedgerows of Normandy.

Map Tips

• Learn the tunnel entrances on each map — as NVA they are your rapid-transit network; as US they are the main ambush threat.
• Use the tactical map (improved for launch, even on Xbox Series S) to plan helicopter routes that avoid known RPG positions.
• In jungle maps, stay in squad formation: lone players die in seconds.
• On river maps, contest the boats — losing water control loses the flank.
